Stage to Molveno, arrival at the Brenta
The longest stage of the trip, but still under three hours.
Factor in the Brenner toll and the Italian motorway toll.
A family-friendly campsite right on the shore of Lago di Molveno, one of the cleanest swimming lakes in the Alps, with turquoise-blue water set against the backdrop of the Dolomiti di Brenta. A gently sloping entry, sunbathing lawns and a playground make it ideal for children. From here you can enjoy the coming days comfortably without having to move on.

Lago di Molveno is considered one of the cleanest lakes in Italy and has won several environmental awards. The shallow, clear water and the wide sunbathing lawns in the lakeside park are perfect for a relaxed family day. A simple path runs right around the lake, ideal for a walk with the children.
Right by the lake lies a spacious adventure park with playgrounds, climbing stations and water play areas for children. A relaxed spot to round off the afternoon after swimming. The 6- and 9-year-olds will find plenty to discover here.
Mountain scenery and views
Adjust the walk to the children's fitness - the paths are easy to moderate.
Bring sturdy shoes and plenty of water.
The cable car takes you up to the Pradel plateau at the foot of the Dolomiti di Brenta. Up top, easy family paths, a mountain playground and a nature trail await, with wide views of the rugged Brenta peaks. The short walk to Malga Andalo is also manageable with children.
From Pradel, a family-friendly path leads through the woods to Rifugio Croz dell'Altissimo, beneath the mighty rock walls. Along the way you'll find streams and shady resting spots. A lovely stop for some Trentino cuisine before heading back to the cable car.
Stage to the Valle dei Laghi
Short stages with a worthwhile stop at Lago di Toblino.

On the way to Trento, it's worth stopping at Lago di Toblino with the picturesque Castel Toblino, which sits on a headland in the lake. The castle itself is now a restaurant, but the shore and the view over the reed belt are freely accessible and truly magical. A short, peaceful walk by the water for the whole family.
A campsite close to the centre on the outskirts of Trento, a good base for the day of culture in the city. Quietly located with a pool and play area for the children. From here you can reach the old town comfortably by tow vehicle or bus.

City, history, science
The caravan stays at the campsite - just a day trip by car.
Back to the lake in the early evening to cool off.
The heart of the old town, with the Neptune fountain, the Romanesque Trento Cathedral (San Vigilio) and colourfully painted townhouses. A lovely spot for a relaxed stroll and an ice cream in the sun. The compact old town is easy to explore on foot with children.
Designed by Renzo Piano, this science museum is a highlight for families, with interactive exhibits, a glacier model, dinosaurs and a tropical greenhouse. Children can try out plenty for themselves and explore for hours. A perfect option if the weather doesn't cooperate.

Gorge and move to Lago di Ledro
A slightly longer driving day with a gorge visit, but still under three hours of actual driving.
Secure a time slot for the canyon in advance so the timing fits with the move.
A spectacular gorge in the middle of the village of Fondo, only accessible with a guide, where walkways and steps lead through the narrow, moss-covered rock cleft. The roar of the water and the dripping walls impress children too. The guided tour takes around an hour and a half and is easily manageable.

Swimming and pile dwellings
A rest day with no change of location.
Plenty of time at the shallow shore in the afternoon.
Lago di Ledro lies at 650 metres in a peaceful mountain valley, offering warm, crystal-clear swimming water away from the bustle of Lake Garda. The shallow shore areas are ideal for children, and a simple cycling and walking path runs around the lake. A quiet day devoted entirely to water and nature.
On the eastern shore stand reconstructed Bronze Age pile dwellings above the water, along with a small museum displaying finds from the lake. Children get a vivid sense of how people lived here 4,000 years ago. A short, child-friendly outing that combines well with swimming.
Waterfall and mountain lake idyll
A pure day trip - back to the campsite at Lago di Ledro in the evening.
The water at Lago di Tenno is quite cool - ideal for a quick refreshing dip.
An impressive waterfall plunging over 90 metres into a narrow rocky gorge, viewable up close from secured walkways. The roar and spray in the green-clad grotto delight visitors both large and small. The path is well maintained and can comfortably be done in around an hour.
A brilliant turquoise-blue mountain lake with a small island, reachable via a headland when water levels are low. The cool, clear water and pebble beaches make it one of the loveliest swimming spots in the region. A circular path leads through shady woodland around the shore.
Northern tip of Lake Garda and preparation for the journey home
Visit Riva in the morning, then move north.
A stage of under three hours, arriving at Reintalersee to set up.
On the northern shore of Lake Garda lies the lively town of Riva, with its pretty old town, the striking Torre Apponale and a wide lakeside promenade. Here you can swim, enjoy an ice cream or hire a pedal boat. The mountain backdrop and fresh breeze make the town pleasant even in summer.
An idyllic campsite at Reintalersee in Tyrol, a good stopover on the way home. The small, warm swimming lake with its shallow shore is perfect for one last afternoon of swimming with the children. A peaceful spot before the final stage to Augsburg.

A small, very clean bog lake near Kramsach with pleasantly warm water and shallow swimming areas. An easy path runs around the lake, ideal for a leisurely stroll. A relaxed buffer day to catch your breath before the journey home.
