This is where your journey begins. After work, you pack up the camper and head off towards the Bay of Lübeck.
For your first night, a family-friendly site right on the Bay of Lübeck is ideal, with short walks to the water and a flat approach. After the long week, today is simply about arriving, setting up the van, and getting the baby into the travel cot. Reception is usually staffed until evening over Whitsun, but it's worth calling ahead if you'll be arriving late.

Water, sand and short walks
A pure rest day with beach and promenade, with no further travelling.

The wide, gently sloping sandy beach at Scharbeutz is ideal with a baby: clean water that deepens slowly, and a comfortable beach promenade. You can push the pram easily and find shady spots among the beach chairs. For a first paddle at eight months old, the warm shallows at the water's edge are just right.
Along the Ostseeallee you'll find fish roll stalls, cafés and small market stalls selling regional specialities. It's a good spot for a late lunch with a sea view while the baby dozes in the pram. The paths are flat and largely barrier-free.
A second night at the same peaceful site, so you don't need to move the camper. Short walks to the facilities and play area, and a relaxed evening at the van.

Baltic seaside resorts and harbour air
Short distances between the resorts, plenty of time to browse.
Slow things down in the afternoon at the peaceful Niendorf harbour.
The best-known resort on the Bay of Lübeck draws visitors with its long sandy beach, pier and relaxed beach promenade. The town is easy to explore with a pram and has plenty of child-friendly cafés. Park at ground level on the edge of town, as the low car parks aren't suitable for the van.

The small fishing harbour at Niendorf is perfect for a quiet afternoon: cutters, fish stalls and freshly caught fish right by the water. You can enjoy a fish roll while watching the boats, while the baby watches the seagulls. A relaxed contrast to the busier Timmendorfer Strand.
Marzipan, brick and farewells
Explore Lübeck in the morning, so the drive home stays relaxed.
Total driving time today is under two hours, easily manageable with a baby.
To round things off, head to Lübeck's old town, surrounded by water, with its famous Holstentor and narrow brick-built lanes. The streets are easy to manage with a pram, and you'll find cafés as well as Niederegger, the traditional marzipan house, for a sweet break. Park at ground level on the edge of the old town, as the underground car parks are too low for the van.
Drive back to Hamburg to round off your long weekend at the Baltic.
