A peaceful stopover at Ruppiner See, halfway to the coast. The flat bathing beach right by the site is ideal for stretching your legs after the drive and taking your first dip in the water.

Journey to the island
The second leg of the journey, after which it's just a matter of setting up and relaxing on the beach.
The Rügendamm can get congested during peak season, so allow some extra time.
Your base on Rügen for the coming nights, right on the long sandy beach of Prorer Wiek and just a few minutes from Binz. From here, you can easily reach the chalk cliffs, piers and the Rasender Roland on short day trips.

A beach day to settle in
A relaxed arrival day with no long drives.

Nature and hiking
At Königsstuhl, you park at the Hagen car park, where the camper fits easily onto the ground-level spaces.
The forest path to the coast is suitable for families, though somewhat uneven in places.
The famous Königsstuhl chalk cliff rises white above the Baltic Sea, surrounded by the ancient beech forest of Jasmund National Park. At the visitor centre, children can discover plenty, and the Skywalk offers an unobstructed view of the cliffs. An easy walk leads through the forest down to the coast.
Narrow-gauge railway and Bäderarchitektur
You can take the Roland to Sellin and back later, saving you the hassle of finding parking.
In Sellin, there are ground-level car parks on the edge of town if you do decide to travel by camper.
The historic narrow-gauge railway Rasender Roland has been steaming its way across Rügen with genuine steam locomotives for over a hundred years. A highlight for children: the hiss of the steam, the old wooden carriages and the leisurely ride through forest and seaside resorts.
Sellin Pier, with its striking bridge house in the Bäderarchitektur style, is considered the most beautiful on the island. After the train ride, you can stroll along the pier, swim below and while away the time on the beach.
Cliffs and lighthouses
About an hour's drive, followed by plenty of activity in the fresh air.
It's around 2 kilometres from the car park to the cape; the Arkona-Bahn can take tired children the rest of the way.
The northernmost point of Rügen, with two historic lighthouses, steep cliffs and the old fishing village of Vitt. Children can climb the lighthouse and enjoy the sweeping view over the Baltic Sea. From the Putgarten car park, you continue on foot or by Arkona-Bahn to the cape.
History and swimming
A short morning with some history, followed by a long afternoon on the beach.
Prora's history is a weighty subject, so pace it appropriately for children and follow up with some downtime afterwards.
The Prora building complex, over four kilometres long, was planned as a seaside resort during the Nazi era and today tells an important chapter of history. The documentation centre provides the background, after which the beach right next door invites you for a swim.
The long, gently sloping sandy beach right in front of your campsite is perfect for a relaxed afternoon. Swimming, building sandcastles and splashing about in the water, all without a long journey.
Animals and switching islands
The only move of the trip, broken up by a stop at the animal park.
The Peenebrücke near Wolgast opens for ships at set times, so a short wait is possible.
A family-friendly animal park near Greifswald with native species, a petting area and plenty of room to run around. A good stopover on the way from Rügen to Usedom, breaking up the longer drive for the children.
Your base on Usedom, peacefully situated between the Baltic Sea and the Achterwasser, right on the beach. From here, you can reach the Kaiserbäder and Peenemünde in short stages, without having to move again.

Beach day
A relaxed day with no driving, so everyone can properly settle in on Usedom.
The broad, unspoilt sandy beach at Ückeritz is one of the quietest on the island. Ideal for arriving after the move, taking a swim and giving the children time to play.
Bäderarchitektur on the border
The three Kaiserbäder of Bansin, Heringsdorf and Ahlbeck flow seamlessly into one another, so you can combine plenty of them on foot.
Ahlbeck lies right on the Polish border, and an optional side trip to Świnoujście is possible.

The historic Ahlbeck Pier, built in 1898 with its four green turrets, is the oldest of its kind in Germany and a genuine landmark. A walk along the pier and an ice cream on the beach round off the day nicely.
Technology and history
The subject matter is demanding, but the outdoor grounds with rockets fascinate younger children too.
About an hour's drive each way, with the beach still an option again in the afternoon.
Housed in the former power station of the Army Research Centre, the museum tells the story of rocket development and its darker sides. Outside stand genuine rockets and aircraft, which particularly fascinate older children. A place for wonder and reflection.
Relaxation
A deliberately free day with no driving, to recharge before the long journey home.
A day with no plans at all: swim in the Baltic Sea, paddle on the Achterwasser or simply laze on the beach. This last full day on Usedom belongs to the children and to relaxation before the journey home.
Heading home in stages
The return journey is deliberately split, so this leg stays under about 3 hours.
Arrival in the early afternoon leaves time for one last swim.
An overnight stop at Ruppiner See, so the return journey doesn't have to be driven in one go. One last swim in the lake and a peaceful night before the final leg to Leipzig.

The last leg brings you back to Leipzig, where your round trip comes to an end, with plenty of memories of beaches, chalk cliffs and the Rasender Roland to take home with you.
