The largest Gothic cathedral in the world, home to the tomb of Christopher Columbus. The climb up the Giralda tower follows gentle ramps rather than stairs, so children can easily make it to the top and enjoy the view over the city.

Grand squares and getting active
The Parque de María Luisa offers shade and room for the kids around midday.
The semi-circular grand square with bridges, a canal, and colourfully tiled provincial alcoves to search out and admire. You can hire a rowing boat on the small canal, which the kids particularly enjoy. The adjoining Parque de María Luisa is great for running about.

A relaxed boat trip on the Guadalquivir sets off from the Torre del Oro, with good views of the riverside palaces. Afterwards, it's well worth strolling through the lively pottery quarter of Triana with its ceramics shops and tapas bars.

Nature and open space
Slightly more driving time overall today, but with a long nature break in between.
One of the most important wetlands in Europe, home to flamingos, deer and the rare Iberian lynx. From the El Acebuche visitor centre, child-friendly boardwalks and trails lead to observation huts at the lagoons. Off-road trips into the heart of the park can be booked.

Atlantic city
The ferry completely avoids the parking hassle in Cádiz. Check the timetable in advance.
One of the oldest cities in Europe, surrounded by the Atlantic. Through narrow lanes, past the Mercado Central and up the Torre Tavira with its camera obscura, you can discover the city in a playful way. The salty sea air is present everywhere.
The sheltered city beach between two old fortresses is ideal for swimming and building sandcastles. A stone path leads out into the sea from the Castillo de San Sebastián, perfect for exploring. At low tide, shallow rock pools form for the kids.

Tradition of the Frontera
A short day's drive with afternoon time at the beach to balance it out.
At the royal riding school, the Andalusian horses dance to music - a display that delights children. The city is also home to sherry and flamenco, and the old town with its Alcázar is easy to explore on foot. A stroll through the Mercado rounds off the day.

White villages and Romans by the sea
A varied day with a village, ruins and beach - driving times stay short.
One of the most beautiful white villages in Andalusia, perched on a hill above the coast. Wonderful for strolling through winding lanes, archways and viewpoints, with views reaching all the way to the Atlantic from the top. There's a motorhome car park below the village.

A remarkably well-preserved Roman city right on the beach at Bolonia, with a forum, theatre and fish-salting works. Kids can wander among genuine ruins, and right next door lies the wide beach with the famous shifting dune of Bolonia to climb.
Site right on the sea near Tarifa, with views as far as Africa and strong winds for kites and kitesurfers. From here you have short distances to the long Atlantic beaches where the kids can run about.

Recharging on the Atlantic
A deliberately relaxed day with plenty of beach time before heading up into the mountains.
The huge shifting dune of fine white sand can be climbed barefoot and offers a viewpoint over the bay from the top. The long, flat beach is ideal for swimming, shell-hunting and flying kites. A perfect balance after the city days.
White villages in the mountains
The drive up into the mountains is winding; allow enough time and take breaks to help with any travel sickness in the kids.
The town perches above a gorge over a hundred metres deep, spanned by the famous Puente Nuevo bridge. The view down into the Tajo is breathtaking, and the viewpoints on the edge of the old town are easily accessible for children. Ronda's bullring and winding lanes invite exploration.
