Crossing the border
A short first stage of under three hours, leaving plenty of time for swimming at the lake afterwards.
This is where your journey begins. From the motorhome, head off in a relaxed manner towards the Bohemian border.
The large Lipno Reservoir is South Bohemia's swimming paradise, with gently sloping banks, sandy beaches and plenty of room to romp about. For children there's a water play area, pedal boats and a long treetop walkway nearby. A perfect start after the journey there.

Forest, water and a mighty castle
A total of a good two hours' driving spread across the day, with plenty of activity outdoors in between.
This historic floating canal was once built to transport timber from the Bohemian Forest all the way to Vienna. An easy walking trail follows the babbling canal through the woods, and in places you can watch the water flowing by. The path is easily manageable for children and full of little discoveries.
Rozmberk Castle towers high above a bend in the Vltava and looks like something out of a storybook. The guided tour includes suits of armour, old paintings and the legend of the White Lady. The village itself is tiny and lovely for a short stroll.
Fairytale town and views
You explore Cesky Krumlov on foot from the campsite, as the lanes are too narrow for the motorhome.
The charming chairlift takes you up to Klet, the highest peak in the region. At the top there's a viewing tower and an observatory, with views reaching as far as the Alps on a clear day. The ride itself is already an adventure for the children.
The winding old town of Cesky Krumlov nestles into a tight bend of the Vltava and is protected as a UNESCO site. A huge castle towers above the town, complete with bears in the moat and a painted tower you can climb. There's plenty to discover among the cobbled lanes, the river and the market square.

A fairytale castle above the Vltava
A short drive, leaving plenty of time for the castle and swimming at the pond.
The snow-white Zamek Hluboka is considered one of the most beautiful castles in the Czech Republic and was rebuilt in the English Tudor style. Magnificent halls, a sprawling park and views over the Vltava delight young and old alike. For children, the park with its old trees is ideal for running about.

A campsite on the banks of the Municky Pond, with swimming and a lawn for lounging. After visiting the castle, the children can splash about and play here. Short walks to the castle and the surrounding countryside.
Town, beer and a grand market square
Very short drives, a relaxed city day with a return for swimming afterwards.
Budweis has one of the largest square market squares in Europe, framed by colourful townhouses and arcades. You can climb the Black Tower for sweeping views, while cafés and fountains below invite you to linger. The home of Budweiser beer is charming and easy to explore on foot.
To the golden city on the Vltava
The longest drive of the trip stays under three hours, with a relaxed zoo visit in the afternoon.
A family-run campsite in the green district of Troja, right on the Vltava with excellent tram links into the centre. The motorhome stays parked here while you explore Prague comfortably by public transport. Nearby you'll find the zoo and the Botanical Garden.

Zoo Praha is one of the finest zoos in Europe and is just a short walk from the campsite. Spacious enclosures, a cable car through the park and plenty of animals make it the ideal way to ease into your stay for the children. A relaxed start to your time in Prague.

The highlights of the old town
No driving with the motorhome today — everything is easily reached by tram and on foot.
The motorhome stays parked at the campsite all day.
Prague Castle is one of the largest castle complexes in the world and crowns the city high above the Vltava. The Gothic St Vitus Cathedral, Golden Lane and the changing of the guard at the gate fascinate children too. The viewpoints offer sweeping views over all of Prague.

The stone Charles Bridge, dating from the 14th century, connects the Lesser Town and the Old Town and is lined with 30 baroque statues of saints. Street musicians, artists and views of the castle bring the stroll to life. Touching a particular statue is said to bring good luck.
On the Old Town Square, crowds gather on the hour in front of the astronomical clock as the apostle figures appear. Around the square there are towers to climb and plenty of lanes to explore. A great way to round off your day in the city centre.
Petrin, views and water
A quieter second day in Prague, with plenty of greenery and water, shaped entirely around what the children fancy.
The funicular takes you up the green Petrin Hill, home to a viewing tower, a mirror maze and wide meadows. Children love the maze and the view from the little Eiffel Tower over the city. A relaxed counterpoint to the bustle of the old town.
A leisurely boat trip on the Vltava shows Prague from the water, passing under bridges and below the castle. For the children, the ride is a welcome break from walking. Afterwards there's time for an ice cream by the riverbank.
Colourful market square and Renaissance charm
A stage of under three hours, with an early afternoon arrival leaving time for Telc and relaxation.
The old town of Telc is on the UNESCO list and impresses with a long market square full of pastel-coloured Renaissance houses with arcades. Ponds surround the town, perfect for a stroll and feeding the ducks. The small castle at the end of the square is well worth a visit.

A peaceful campsite near Telc with a pond and plenty of lawn for playing. After the stroll through town, the children can romp about by the water. A cosy stopover on the way back towards the border.
Journey home
The journey home is split into two relaxed stages, with a stop in Tabor along the way.
A long stage — plan for breaks.
On the way back, a short stop is worthwhile in the historic Hussite town of Tabor, with its winding lanes and market square. Beneath the town lies a labyrinth of medieval passages that you can visit. A good spot to stretch your legs and take a lunch break.
This is where your round trip ends. After ten days full of castles, water and Bohemian towns, you return to Regensburg.
