A legendary mountain lake
You'll stay at the same base, with just day trips along the Schwarzwaldhochstraße.
Mummelsee is popular in June, so it's quieter early in the morning.
This small, legend-shrouded crater lake on the Schwarzwaldhochstraße can be circled on a level path in around half an hour. Along the shore there are benches, water views and a café for a break.
A short adventure trail over boardwalks and steps through a forest landscape shaped by storm Lothar. Fascinating for curious young eyes, and easily manageable with a two-year-old in a carrier.
Valleys and swimming lakes
A short leg, followed by a relaxed walk.
Wear sturdy, waterproof shoes for the waterfall path, as it can get damp.
This far-reaching village in the Murg and Forbach valleys makes a good base for walks and excursions. Level car parks on the edge of town avoid the problem of low car park barriers for the campervan.

Whether the outdoor pool is open depends on the weather, so check shortly beforehand.
A family-friendly outdoor pool with a shallow children's pool and a lawn for lying out, ideal for a warm June day with a two-year-old. In cooler weather, the compact town centre makes a good alternative.
