A bizarre labyrinth of house-high sandstone walls and narrow passages, explored on a signposted circular trail. The starting point is right by the village, and the loop is a good way to stretch your legs briskly after the drive. Time and again the walls open up into views and small climbing passages over steps.
A quiet, simple nature campsite on the plateau above Hřensko, ideal as a base for Prebischtor and the Kamnitz Gorge. Paths lead directly from here to the starting points of the main walks. The facilities are basic but functional, and the location within the national park is peaceful.

Europe's largest natural rock gate arches freely over the sandstone and is the emblem of Bohemian Switzerland. From the climb up you enjoy views over the wooded tabletop mountains; the gate itself may only be admired from the viewing platforms. Right next to it stands the historic Falkennest inn.
A narrow, damp gorge carved by the Kamnitz, whose steepest section can only be passed by boat on the dammed-up river. Gliding between mossy rock walls with the ferryman through the quiet gorge, you continue on foot along riverside paths in between. A highlight for anyone who loves water and rugged cliffs.
Rock pulpits, a ruin in the forest and castle history
A packed programme, but all the drives are short and easy to combine.
Unpaved forest paths lead to the mill and to Marienfels, so sturdy footwear is a good idea.
A viewpoint rock with an old wooden hut, offering wide views over the tabletop mountains and forests of Bohemian Switzerland. The climb up from Jetřichovice is quick and is especially worthwhile in the clear autumn light. From the top you can easily make out the distinctive rock cones of the surrounding area.
A picturesque ruin of an old water mill deep in the Kamnitz valley, only reachable on foot and therefore pleasantly quiet. A stone bridge leads to the ivy-covered walls, which have even served as a film set. The path there runs through a peaceful wooded valley alongside the stream.
A castle visible from afar above the Elbe, with a famous rose garden and a long approach road cut into the rock. The interior tells the eventful history of this noble residence, and the terrace offers views over the town and river. A good contrast to the nature-focused days, and easy to reach.
A simple campsite by the Elbe near the town, convenient as a stopover before continuing on to the Bastei the next day. Short distances to the centre and the castle, and a quiet location by the water. Well suited for roof tents and a low-cost overnight stop.

At the Bastei, ground-level car parks on the edge of the village are often cheaper than the large car park right at the top.
The drive back in the afternoon takes around two hours, so you'll be home by evening.
The highest tabletop mountain in the region carries a stone lookout tower, from which the view stretches far across the Ore Mountains, the Elbe and Bohemian Switzerland. The climb up from the car park is short, and the panoramic view from the tower is especially rewarding in clear autumn weather. A peaceful, less crowded viewpoint.
The famous rock formation above the Elbe valley, with the historic Bastei Bridge between the sandstone towers, is the emblem of Saxon Switzerland. From the viewing platforms you look straight down to the Elbe and across to the Neurathen Rock Castle. A grand finale to the rock tour before heading home.
